Ulysses S. Grant (via quote-book)
Grant got it right. Forget you, friends who only hang around me when I walk in the light. To those who stand by me through thick and thin, bless you. And thank you.
You know those important lessons your parents warn you of before you have to learn them the hard way? You know, like when you’re 5 years old? For example, don’t run with gum in your mouth because you may choke. Well my sister and Iearned the hard way, at 18 and 20, in a love tackle where the ardently stinging sensation of freshly chewed cinnamon gum torched my throat.
Not a proud moment. But it’s those moments that bring us closer together, isn’t it?
Just so You know.
